Peanut crop insurance is pending for two years in Mundra taluka

The Koro epidemic has broken the backs of farmers. On the other hand, it is the turn of farmers who are not ready to buy ready-made crops to cry. The natural scourge is constantly falling. But resentment has spread among farmers who have not paid insurance in previous years.

According to the information received, on the one hand, due to the epidemic, farmers are getting double the price due to non-payment of crop insurance amount of the previous year. Even buying cotton at support prices has sparked outrage in the past. The question has arisen as to why the farmers of Mundra taluka have not been paid when the payment of groundnut insurance for 2016-2017 has been hampered in the district.

Apart from this, the insurance amount for cotton and castor for the year 2017 has not been paid. Mundra Taluka Kisan Sangh president Naranbhai Ahir said angrily that the farmers of the taluka were not given an estimated amount of Rs 50 lakh for the 2016 peanut insurance. Due to which it is the turn of farmers to suffer economic loss.

In view of the current situation, it is necessary for the farmers to make early payments for groundnut and 2017 cotton-castor. In addition, the government should manage procurement at support prices to ensure that farmers get a fair return. It may be mentioned that the insurance companies are blaming the government for not paying insurance to the farmers. As the government has not paid the insurance premium to the companies, they cannot pay the amount to the farmers.
